Recycling is managed by Eagle Enterprises Recycling out of Galva, IL. Two large recycling containers are located on the West side of town off of D street near the railroad tracks–using the containers is a free service paid for by the Village of Alpha for any Alpha residents. However, there are guidelines established as to what can and can not be recycled below:
THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE ACCEPTED:
Newspaper (including slicks)/ Magazines
Telephone Books / Hardback & paperback Books
Office paper / Junk Mail
Aluminum Cans & Foil / Aluminum Scrap
(including lawn chairs, siding)
Cardboard, Cereal, & Kleenex Boxes / Steel or Tin Cans
Light Steel (coat hangers, bicycles, etc…)
Plastics # 1 – 7, except #6
(look for number inside recycling triangle)
Bubble Wrap
CONTAINERS MUST BE FREE OF FOOD WASTE
ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED:
Styrofoam (#6) / Electronic Equipment
Wax Cardboard (Milk & Juice Cartons)
White Goods (washer, dryer, stove, etc…)
Construction Paper / Household Garbage
Paper Towels & Kleenex / Plastic Toys
